Dec 6th – This year’s mysterious do.
There was a delayed start from Weller’s in Newcastle due to a misunderstanding with postcodes but eventually the coach (Warringtons) and driver, Mick, collected 20 odd of us and headed to Uttoxeter.
First stop was the Horse and Hounds, a delightful small micropub, where we were treated exceedingly well by Bev. The best pork pie and sausage rolls were laid on whilst we enjoyed the plentiful selection of ales.
A short stroll took us to see Andy at the Uttoxeter Brewery where short tours were laid on for those up to it.
The coach subsequently took us a further 10 minutes to Kingstone where a local community pub, The Shrewsbury Arms, entertained us for an hour. 30 minutes on we landed at the Shimla Palace at Wolseley Bridge.
A superb curry for most although we waited for a lengthy period before being served. Not easy when there are 23-24 hungry folk in a party.
